Do you ever feel like your feet are dragging down your eco-credentials?
You’re not alone!
Many people find that their socks often aren't up to the task of keeping their feet comfortable and supported throughout the day while treading as lightly as possible on the planet.
Fear not! Injinji has come to save your soles with its high-quality sock range that it claims provides gentle cushioning without compromising on environmentally sustainable materials.
But is it all too good to be true?
Read on for a comprehensive Injinji toe socks review as I arm you with the facts to help you decide whether or not to buy!
To help you get a complete picture of whether or not Injinji toe socks will be right for you, I tested various pairs designed for different activities.
For this review, I paid especially close attention to product quality, materials, comfort, and fit.
I also put the entire Injinji brand under the microscope and dug deep into sustainability, ethics, shipping, returns, price point, and more.
Here’s what I discovered!
✔ Mulesing-Free Wool
✔ UV Protection
✔ Anti-Odor
They Say: The Outdoor series was designed for running and hiking on rugged trails in unpredictable weather. Newly upgraded to Merino wool construction, the Outdoor Midweight Crew Wool toesock features a ribbed leg and crew height for a tighter, more ergonomic fit that keeps out dirt and debris. The midweight terry footbed increases comfort, while the signature Injinji five-toe design ensures the foot can be fully utilized by promoting a natural foot splay.
We Say: These were the toe socks that made me want to test out Injinji in the first place.
I’d heard great things from some trail-running buddies and have had ‘test Injinji socks’ on my to-do list for ages.
When I saw that a new line made from ethically sourced Merino wool was released, I knew it was time to get my ass in gear and get testing.
This was my first time wearing toe socks, so I was apprehensive and thought it might take some time to get used to the feeling.
Yes, the first time I put them on, it took me a few minutes. However, with a bit of practice, the process of putting on toe socks became as second nature as ordinary socks.
I’m amazed by how comfortable these socks are to wear. I do not find the material between my toes irritating in any way. It’s super soft, and I got used to it very quickly.
The ribbed leg offers excellent support. The footbed is just thick enough to give extra cushioning while hiking on rugged trails. While still leaving plenty of foot feel.
The five-toe design gives an unmatched level of comfort, especially when combined with the arch support and blister prevention features.
What really impressed me is that when exposed to the elements for hours on end hiking in all weather, my feet stay fresh and dry due to the wool’s moisture-wicking, anti-odor, and UV protection properties.
I do have a gripe with these hiking socks, though. Longevity!
After approximately 100 miles of medium-intensity weekend hiking (over a period of around a month), the heels on both socks have started to wear very thin.
However, this may be an isolated incident. Because I also have a pair of the mini-crew (exactly the same sock, just shorter), and they have not started to wear thin despite doing a similar number of miles.
Even with the slight concern over longevity, I love these hiking socks.
They particularly excel in cool and damp conditions. Keeping my feet and toes warm and dry when I first start out and then wicking away sweat as the hike progresses.
✔ CoolMax EcoMade
✔ Arch Support
✔ Blister Protection
They Say: This is the sock for long runs and aggressive hikes on rugged terrain. Our toesock design minimizes friction between the toes to help eliminate blisters, frees them to splay naturally, and lets you utilize your whole foot on narrow, uneven trails. The crew length rides high to seal out debris, and a band under the arch adds support. COOLMAX® fibers and a mesh top keep feet dry and cool, nylon fibers add durability, and midweight cushioning protects your feet.
We Say: These socks have revolutionized my warm-weather hiking experience!
They’re super comfortable and fit like a glove, with plenty of cushioning and support.
The moisture-wicking material keeps my feet cool and dry, and the arch support is top notch too.
I'm amazed at how well these socks prevent blisters. My feet are always protected no matter how aggressively I hit the rugged, dry, and dusty trails.
The materials used are not as eco-friendly as the wool ones mentioned above.
However, with almost 40% CoolMax EcoMade, they’re certainly more sustainable than most hiking socks!
I also love the look of these socks. When pulled up high or rolled down, I feel they give off a nice retro vibe. I can't put my finger on why, but they totally remind me of the 80s!
If you don’t like your socks quite as high, you might want to go for the Trail Midweight Mini-Crew instead.
✔ Extra Padding for Longer Runs
✔ Arch Support
✔ Keeps Toes Separate to Prevent Blisters
They Say: The Ultra Run Mini-Crew features cushioned terry throughout the foot and toes, to help soften the impact of tough runs and workouts on feet. Each toe is separated, eliminating all skin-on-skin contact between the toes and preventing blisters, while knit lines on the bottom of the footbed offer additional arch support. The Mini-Crew length rests just above the ankle and seals out dirt and debris.
We Say: Since reviewing Vivobarefoot, I’ve become slightly obsessed with running trails in my Vivobarefoot Primus Trail III All Weather FG (the best trail runners I’ve ever owned!).
For the short daily trail runs I do with Millie, I like to wear very thin socks (or even no socks at all) as I love to feel every stone, bump, and tree root.
However, once every few weeks, I like to take myself away on longer trials for up to four hours at a time and need extra foot protection.
Step forward, Ultra Run Mini-Crew!
The CoolMax EcoMade material provides breathability and moisture management for comfort throughout the entire run while also being more sustainable than most performance sock materials.
The extra padding on the toes and the footbed is the perfect amount to provide that small extra shock absorption needed for fewer blisters on longer runs while still allowing me to feel the trail through my feet.
The low mini-crew cut gives a feeling of unrestricted weightlessness. And the ‘just tight enough’ elastic forms a comfortable ankle seal that prevents any pesky grit or dust from getting between my feet and the sock.

We Say: When I first started on my toe sock journey, I wore Injinjis for running and hiking but stuck with my traditional socks for everyday wear.
That was, however, before I slipped on a pair of these wool liners.
Yes, I know these thin socks are designed to be worn as a base layer underneath a normal sock when venturing out in cold weather in hiking boots. But I love wearing them around the house and with sneakers.
They go especially well with my Feelgrounds Original Luxe (one of my favorite environmentally friendly sneakers).
Feelgrounds Original Luxe come without insoles and are the most minimalistic sneakers in my wardrobe. When paired with these wool liner socks, I get the perfect combination of quality wool on my skin while still feeling fully grounded with every step I take.

Injinji toe socks are definitely at the top end of the price range, and they do cost more than regular socks.
However, I do feel they represent decent value for money.
The comfort and blister protection level are better than any other sock I've ever worn, and (except for the early thinning issues of one wool pair) the robustness and longevity are decent (if not perfect).
I'm waiting for a full statement from Injinji regarding their sustainability. This is Coming Soon so watch this space!
Likewise, Injinji is providing me with more details about their shipping and returns policy very soon.
