Bamboo fabric feels silky and gentle. It's often compared to cashmere or silk, feeling almost like a second skin and keeping you cool in summer and cozy in winter.

In fact, they're so soft and comfortable that my wife and daughters wanted a pair of their own! So we set out to find the best bamboo pajamas for the whole family.

A word of warning, though. Not all of the so-called bamboo clothing on the market is made equal. Some only use a small percentage of natural fibers, while others are just too expensive.

Bellabu Bear's pajamas are tested for over 1,000 chemicals by OEKO-TEX, and are designed to withstand at least 80 washing cycles. 

Why It's Great for Matching Family Sets: Bellabu Bear uses the same soft, OEKO-TEX-certified bamboo fabric across baby, kids, and adult sizes. This gives peace of mind when dressing the whole family in coordinated sets.

Little Sleepies and Kyte Baby also sell matching sets. However, Bellabu Bear is my favorite because its seasonal collections give families the widest choice of matching designs of the brands I tested. They also have short sleeve options that are ideal for summertime use.

Personal Experience: Our family has a Thanksgiving tradition of buying matching pajamas that we wear for most of the rest of the year. Bellabu Bear has been the go-to choice for a few years now. I still wear sets from years ago, and they've held up remarkably well (easily past the 80+ washes stated on the Bellabu Bear website).

We chose The Polar Express this year, and I'm happy to report that my daughters are still happy posing for holiday photos with their lame parents.

Why It's the Best for Kids & Children: Little Sleepies makes most of its children's pajamas from custom-milled Lunaluxe® Bamboo. The brand's website claims that this material is hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

Little Sleepies is best for older children because it sells a wide range of colors, designs, and patterns to support self-expression. It also sells bamboo sleep products for babies and toddlers, but I prefer Kyte Baby for younger children.

The brand is not yet OEKO-TEX-certified, but, after detailed research, I still recommend it. When asked about the lack of certification, Little Sleepies said, "As of yet, we do not have, but are actively working on the OEKO-TEX certification. It is a process that takes some time. However, all of our products have been independently lab tested and are free of chemicals and flame retardants."

Parents who are upgrading sleepwear for sensitive kids might also want to look at certified non-toxic organic kids bedding to create a safer overall sleep environment.

I trust Little Sleepies. However, if certified status is your top priority when shopping for children's pajamas, I recommend you check out Bellabu Bear.

Personal Experience: A neighbor asked me for advice on bamboo sleepwear for his 1-year-old son, who was overheating and waking up sweaty and uncomfortable most nights. I researched over a dozen bamboo baby sleepwear brands and recommended Kyte Baby for its temperature-regulating properties and sleep bag design.

Why It's the Best for Luxury: Cozy Earth specializes in bamboo pajamas made from viscose from bamboo and spandex. Their fabric has a lovely weight and drapes like silk, rather than hanging limply like cheaper brands. The stitching has not come loose through years of testing by my wife, and the classic "buttery soft" bamboo feels like it's getting softer with every wash.

Cozy Earth is so confident in the quality of its pajamas that it offers a lifetime manufacturing defect warranty. This is the longest warranty offered by all the brands I've recommended. The next longest is Cariloha (one year).

This brand was in the running for 'Best Overall.' However, I had to knock a star off because Cozy Earth doesn't clearly list any third-party fabric certifications (such as OEKO-TEX) for its bamboo pajamas.

Personal Experience: Cozy Earth's Women's Bamboo Stretch-Knit Long Sleeve Pajama Set has been my wife's go-to for cooler nights for many years.

She usually treats pajama sets like coats. Wear for a season and then donate or recycle. I know...she's working on it! But she loves her Cozy Earth pajama set so much that it has lasted through three winters so far.

It's a sign of the quality of Cozy Earth's bamboo fabric that these pajamas still look pretty much as good as new. The color is not quite as bright, but this pajama set still has plenty of life left in it.

Why It's the Best Choice for Men's Sleepwear: As a man who maybe (definitely! 😉) doesn't wash his pajamas often enough, I was drawn to Cariloha's claim that its men's sleep pants repel odors. After six months of testing (and very little washing), my experience of the Cariloha Men's Bamboo Sleep Pants backs up that claim. Even after many weeks of use with no washing, they have never started to smell.

Bellabu Bear is my other recommendation for men's pajamas because I love its wide range of holiday designs. However, for most of the year, I like to sleep topless. With Cariloha, I can buy just the sleep pants (or shorts) without paying for a set when I don't want the top.

Cariloha is also the only brand in this guide that is B Corp certified. This certification means that third-party auditors have verified Cariloha's environmental and social practices. I value this verification because it supports Cariloha's sustainability claims with accessible documentation rather than unverified marketing claims.

Personal Experience: Cariloha makes some of its pajamas with the common blend of 95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex. However, I prefer the 67% bamboo, 28% organic cotton, and 5% spandex mix used to make the Cariloha Men's Bamboo Sleep Pants. My testing has shown me that the added organic cotton increases durability.

These sleep pants have been my favorite sleepwear for over a year now. They're loose-fitting, super cozy, and keep me at a nice temperature all night long. Win-Win-Win!

Cariloha does not show the OEKO-TEX certification on its pajama listing, and my sleep pants do not contain an OEKO-TEX label. However, the brand has assured me that it uses certified materials.

Cariloha states that "no harmful chemicals were used during production of our bamboo products" and that they are "certified to be chemical free." They also say, "Cariloha products have been tested for harmful substances according to the criteria applicable to them under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100."

Why It's the Best for Plus Size & Inclusive Fits: Latuza sells bamboo pajamas in sizes S to 4X Plus. This is great because many bamboo sleepwear brands stop at XL or 2XL, which often leaves plus-size shoppers with limited choices.

I have tried to include as many plus-size-friendly brands as possible in this guide. Little Sleepies, Kyte Baby, Cozy Earth, and Kindred Bravely all offer adult options up to 3XL. Cozy Earth is an especially good alternative for plus-size shoppers because it sells 3XL sizes and tall inseams.

Why It's Recommended for Affordability: Latuza bamboo pajamas cost on average 50-60% less than luxury brands like Cozy Earth. My testing shows that the Latuza fabric is slightly thinner than Cozy Earth's, but its softness and breathability still really impressed me for the price.

Personal Experience: Latuza's Nursing Nightgown and Robe Set was one of my sister-in-law's favorite bedtime items when she was pregnant with our nephew Alfie.

Why It's the Best for Pregnancy & Maternity/Nursing: Kindred Bravely's bamboo pajamas feature stretchy waistbands that expand with a growing belly and button-front tops that open easily for middle-of-the-night feeds. The brand states that the fabric is breathable and temperature-regulating to help you stay cool and comfortable during pregnancy night sweats.

Kindred Bravely is a maternity and postpartum specialist and sells a wide range of pregnancy and nursing essentials. If you want even more options, Latuza is a high-quality bamboo sleeperwear manufacturer that also sells good pregnancy and maternity options.

Personal Experience: Kindred Bravely is my sister-in-law's all-time favorite maternity-specific brand. The Clea Bamboo Pajama Set became her most-worn sleepwear from her second trimester through eight months of nursing.

She demonstrated the button-front nursing access during overnight stays at our house when Alfie was a newborn. The Kindred Bravely bamboo top was easy to unbutton quickly for nighttime feeds without fumbling in the dark or lifting her entire shirt.

Many sellers/manufacturers try all the greenwashing tactics in the book to convince you that their product is sustainable.

Make sure you buy from a reputable source, and you know exactly what blend of fabric has gone into your bamboo pajamas.

Steer clear of products labeled as bamboo that are just polyester with a small amount of bamboo fibers added.

No. Some manufacturers claim that bamboo fabric is antibacterial, but there is no scientific evidence of this.

In fact, some studies show the opposite, that natural bamboo fiber has no natural antibacterial properties (Xi et al., 2013; FTC).

What’s The Difference Between Women's and Men's Bamboo Pajamas?

The material used is the same for women's bamboo pajamas and men’s. The main differences are:
