Nectar Sleep is becoming a big player in the ’mattress in a box’ market…thanks in no small part to the generous 365-night sleep trial.
In fact, the length of the sleep trial was a critical factor in Nectar making it onto my list of the best eco-friendly mattresses.
I often receive emails asking for clarification about how to return a Nectar mattress, so I thought I’d put together a definitive guide to make the return process as easy as possible for you.
If, for whatever reason, you decided it's not for you, then let’s get started on returning your Nectar mattress.
Contents
Before deciding that your new Nectar mattress is not suitable for you, you need to give it a chance to settle.
Nectar mattresses are made from foam, which can take up to 30 days to settle and soften once the mattress has been delivered and opened.
For this reason, Nectar asks that you wait 30 days before initiating a return.
If you’re between day 31 and day 365 and still don’t like the Nectar mattress, it’s time to return it.
You’ll need to send various things to Nectar to submit a return request, so it’s best to sort the following before you get started:
Once you’ve waited the required 30 days and gathered all the information you need, it’s time to contact Nectar customer service to let them know that you’d like to return your mattress.
Nectar provides several options for getting in touch:
The customer services operator will then take the necessary details from you and explain the rest of the return process.
You don’t need to send your mattress back to Nectar.
Instead, they’ll arrange for a local charitable organization to come and pick up your unwanted mattress and donate it to someone in need. If there is no local charity in your area, Nectar will arrange a collection by a local recycling center instead.
To ensure you’re ready for collection, it’s a good idea to get the mattress downstairs and by the door the night before so you’re prepared if they arrive early.
You don’t need to package your mattress prior to collection; the collector will take care of that.
The collector will not come into your house, so you must ensure you’re in on the scheduled collection day to hand them the mattress.
If you’re not going to be in, you can leave the mattress for curbside collection. However, you’re responsible for its safety until it’s successfully collected. If it gets stolen before collection, you’ll not get a refund.
For extra proof of collection, take a photo of the collector taking the mattress (but ask for their permission first).
Nectar will then refund you in full (via your original payment method) within three business days (it may take longer to reach your card, etc., depending on your bank’s timeframes).
Refunds work differently if you paid using Affirm, and you might have to contact Nectar again after collection to initiate your Affirm refund. If this applies to you, Nectar customer services should make you aware when you first contacted them (step #3).
Nectar does not offer a mattress exchange service.
If you want to try a different model, you need to follow the six steps listed above to return for a refund and then order a new mattress as a replacement.
The 365-night sleep trial offered by Nectar is one of the best and certainly a key selling point for the mattress.
But if you decided that the Necrat Mattress isn't right for you, then you may well be looking for an alternative.
So what do some of the other leading mattress companies offer?
Nectar is well known for being fair with its attitude toward mattress returns.
However, there are a few finer points of the return terms and conditions I feel you should be aware of:
Some key points to consider when returning other Nectar products include:
No. I’ve had it confirmed by Nectar chat support that there is no limit to how many times you can return a Nectar mattress between day 31 and day 365.
Yes. It’s impossible to get back into the box once the foam layers have expanded.
Nectar doesn’t operate their own stores, but they’re available in 4,000 partner locations.
However, with such an easy ordering and returns system, it's easier to save time and fuel and order your Nectar mattress online.
All mattresses (especially gel memory foam and latex) deteriorate and sag to some degree over time.
The speed with which this happens depends on factors such as build quality, the weight of users, the level of body heat, and the quality of your bed frame.
According to a Nectar online chat customer service agent, “Our mattresses are made of quality materials and are expected to last for more than 10 years. The mattress will also come with a lifetime warranty, and we can assist with any quality concerns that are covered by our warranty.”
I hope you found this article helpful and that you now know all you need to know about how to return a nectar mattress.
Nectar puts a lot of emphasis on customer satisfaction, and its return policy reflects that.
The 365-night trial gives you plenty of time to test out the mattress and decide whether or not it’s right for you.
But if you find that your Nectar mattress isn’t quite working for you, you can take advantage of the free return/collection service and get a full refund.
If your Nectar mattress is unsuitable for you, consider replacing it with an organic natural bamboo mattress.
